Luttrell to serve on three committees in the 118th Congress

WASHINGTON – Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) released the following statement after being appointed to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, Committee on Homeland Security, and Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

“I’m honored to have been selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, Committee on Homeland Security, and Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. As a Navy veteran and former DOE advisor, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our country and servicemembers face at home and abroad,” said Congressman Morgan Luttrell. “I’ll continue to do everything in my power to defend our nation from increasing adversarial threats, secure our borders, and support our servicemembers who have put it all on the line for our country. I look forward to working with Chairmen Mike Rogers, Mark Green, and Mike Bost to create a safer, stronger America.”

“With an entire career dedicated to protecting and defending our nation as a United States Navy SEAL, Congressman Luttrell brings the expertise and perspective from which the committee will benefit greatly,” said Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green. “He has seen firsthand the countless threats and bad actors seeking to do our country harm and understands that anything less than an unremitting position is unacceptable. Additionally, representing a district in Texas in proximity to the Southwest border, Congressman Luttrell has seen the devastating impacts the Biden administration’s reckless border security policies are having on our homeland security. I am thrilled to welcome Congressman Luttrell to the Committee on Homeland Security and look forward to his leadership on strengthening our national security.”

“Rep. Morgan Luttrell bravely served our nation as U.S. Navy SEAL – his first-hand experience and knowledge will make him an invaluable addition to the House Armed Services Committee,”  House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers said. “I am thrilled Rep. Luttrell has been recommended by the Steering Committee to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and I look forward to the House Republican Conference ratifying the Steering Committee’s recommendation.”

“Rep. Morgan Luttrell represents what it means to live by ‘service above self,’ and makes a wonderful addition the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. We are lucky to have him,” said Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost. “During Rep. Luttrell’s 14-year Navy career, he mentored countless SEALs and overcame injuries resulting from a horrific helicopter crash that left him with a broken back and Traumatic Brain Injury, yet he managed to rehab and return to the frontlines before retiring. Since then, Morgan has committed himself to helping other veterans work through PTSD and service connected TBIs. I have no doubt that Rep. Luttrell will carry that same commitment to veterans and their families in his work on our Committee, and I am eager to see what he will accomplish.”
