Luttrell Selected as Conferee for FY24 Defense Bill
WASHINGTON – Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX), Chairman of Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, was named by Speaker Kevin McCarthy as a conferee to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee. As part of the Conference Committee, made up of Senators and Representatives, Congressman Luttrell will work to resolve the bicameral differences in the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2024.
“As a Navy combat veteran, I know how important a well-equipped military force is to protect our country,” said Congressman Luttrell. “It is an honor to be named a conferee to the NDAA conference committee. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure our servicemembers receive the support they deserve and our military can face any challenge with lethality and readiness. I am confident we can craft a robust, bipartisan NDAA that will strengthen our national defense, making a more powerful and safer America for generations to come.”
“I’m excited to see my friend and House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs colleague, Rep. Luttrell, selected to serve as a Fiscal Year 2024 NDAA conferee. As a post-9/11 veteran, Morgan brings a valuable perspective to the table to ensure that our men and women who serve have access to the resources they need to meet today’s missions. I look forward to working with him – and all our Republican conferees – to deliver the most conservative National Defense Authorization Act in history that is focused on keeping America safe,” said Chairman Bost.
The NDAA is an annual congressional bill giving guidance, authorization, and changes to the policies and funding of Department of Defense. In his capacity as a House Veterans’ Affairs Committee representative conferee, Congressman Luttrell will be responsible for ensuring a robust legislative package that makes certain our nation is ready to fight. Congressman Luttrell also serves on the House Armed Services Committee and helped craft the House version of the NDAA.
