The bill directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to conduct a threat assessment of terrorist threats to the United States posed by individuals in Syria with an affiliation with a Foreign Terrorist Organization or a Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organization.

54 days ago, House Republicans passed a continuing resolution that would have kept the federal government open, paid our troops, and ensured our veterans received the services they earned. Democrats opposed it — repeatedly. Today, House Republicans delivered for the American people again while Democrats finally came back to reality and caved. For over a month, Democrats chose partisan politics over paying our military and serving our veterans. They forced this shutdown, prolonged the unnecessary suffering for our veteran communities and military families, and have nothing to show for it except the chaos they created.
